What To Wear To Office Holiday Parties

This is my 11th installment of my Work Series Wednesday. Every Wednesday I will be sharing stories from my work journey and other work lessons I learned. This series is called #WhitxWorkSeries!

November and December always bring the Holiday Party Season. I have gotten quite a few requests to do a post on advice for styles that are appropriate to wear to an Office Holiday Party. I put together a style guide on tips for navigating getting dressed for your next work party. These type of parties are a great opportunity to let your personality show while maintaining professionalism, but also dressing up to celebrate. I always enjoy getting a little more dressed up and festive for my work holiday party. Depending on your job and your office culture office-appropriate styles for the Holiday Season will vary. Here are 4 different styles to wear to your next office party.

I love blazers for when you want to feel fancy - yet professional. You can always go for a more festive look like this plaid option from Zara or stick to more festive holiday colors like red or green. If you prefer a more classic plaid style or all black, play up texture like velvet or satin for the party. I love that you can dress up or down blazer very easily. They are a classic and safe choice for Holiday party attire.

Style Tip:

Outfit Idea - Dress Down: Add a velvet blazer with a graphic tee and booties

Outfit Idea - Dress Up: Throw a blazer over a sweater paired with a skirt and OTK boots

Party Skirts

Skirts are a great option for Holiday Parties. I love playing up pop of colors like red or pink. I love unique material like tulle to make this skirt style festive and fun! I recommend that if you go for more decorative skirt style - keep your top and shoes more subdued if your work environment is more conservative. I love pleated skirt option because depending on the color you can get multiple wears out of it!

Classic Tuxedo

Keep it Holiday chic with a classic tuxedo style look. You can pair tuxedo pants and a double-breasted blazer. You will look chic and sophisticated for the Work Holiday Party, and impress your bosses. And with this style, you never have to worry about it being inappropriate for the office.

Party Dresses

Party dresses are always the most fun to wear - but party dresses need to be chosen with care to ensure you are still office appropriate. I recommend paying attention to hem length and the cut of the dress. I always steer towards dresses that are knee length and have long sleeves. I typically pair a blazer or leather jacket with strappy dresses to avoid showing to much skin. I love to play up color like red or green to keep it festive.
