I am really trying to cut down on the amount of shopping that I have been doing lately. My goal for this Summer is to refind fabulous pieces that are already in my closet. I recently bought a jumpsuit and I realize it looked a bit familiar – I already had a very similar one hanging in my closet. I decided to do a big closet purge and start pulling everything I had not worn in the last 6 months to a year. I essentially tried to Marie Kondo my closet. This also let me find quite a few pieces I had forgotten about.
TIPS TO SHOP YOUR OWN CLOSET
-
-
- Audit Your Closet – Go through and pull out everything you have not worn in 6 months to a year or no longer fits. Separate your clothes into piles: donation, sales or family and friends.
- Organize Your Closet – I like to organize my closet by garment type: blazers, top, skirts, pants – this allows me to better see all the options depending on what style I am going for: work wear, casual etc
- Mix and Match – Get creative with your style and try to make as many different outfit combinations as possible with tops, pants, and skirts. Change up the styles with different shoes or accessories.

I love this! Often times I find myself buying clothing items and then not using them more than once or twice and it’s such a waste. I have been trying to be more conscious of this and buying pieces that I know I can restyle over and over again.
Thank you for your sweet comment, Vanessa! Yes – I couldn’t agree more. I literally bought the same jumpsuit and just felt silly. Being more aware of what is in my closet so I can actually use it is half the battle!
