Let Me Re-Introduce Myself: 12 Facts About Me

Happy Monday! Whether you have been a long-term reader or are just joining – I am kicking off a new chapter in my blogger career after blogging for 7 years as a duo – I am now a solo blogger!  I thought this would be the perfect time to re-introduce myself and get more personal with you. Sometimes it feels like a lot of outfit posts, gift guides and shopping deals without getting deeper. So here it goes – time to get personal (eeek!) ….

Let me re-introduce myself – my name is Whitney – most people call me Whit!

Here are 12 Facts about me!

1.  I come from a big family!

I come from a family of six with 3 siblings. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. I am very close with all my siblings and they are part of the reason I moved back to Seattle to be closer to my family.

2. I am very tall – 5’11

I am 5’11 flat-footed – finding clothes that work for my height can be challenging. I can’t even tell you the number of times I have ordered a dress for it to just be a “shirt” on me. #TALLGIRLPROBLEMS

3. I grew up sailing on a 52′ foot sailboat

I have a very unconventional childhood. I grew up primarily outside of the U.S. I left the United States when I was 6 years old to sail internationally for 2 years with my family on a sailboat.

4. I lived in the South of France for Junior High

I spent part of my Junior High years living in the South of France and going to the International School of Nice. I speak French pretty well but struggle with writing it.

5. I lived in Fez, Morocco with a homestay family & learned Arabic

I lived in Fez, Morocco with a homestay family where I taught English and learned Arabic. My homestay family were some of the nicest people I have ever met and my French really helped in bridging the communication gaps.

6. I sailed around the world on Semester At Sea

Yes – I definitely have a thing for boats. If you have never heard of Semester At Sea –  SAS is a study abroad program I attended my sophomore year of college and sailed to over 14 different countries. This one of the best experience I have ever had! The people I met on that voyage are still my lifelong friends today – Go Fall ’06!

7. I am godmother to the most adorable nephew!

I absolutely adore my nephew – you may have seen him make an appearance on my insta-stories. It’s so amazing to see him grow up and soak in the world around him. My older sister and sister-in-law are both pregnant and due in May – it’s going to be Babies Galore soon!

8. I now live in Seattle after 10 years in San Francisco

I recently moved back to Seattle to be closer to my family after 10 years in San Francisco. It definitely has been a big adjustment.  While I was born in Washington I really only spent 4 years during high school here – so I am still getting re-acclimated to the area.

9. I quit my job after 10 years in media in 2017

I spent 10 years handing $100MM accounts in the global media agency world. I will be detailing more about leaving my corporate job and that catalyst of why I left.

10. I recently lost over 25 LBS

After I left my corporate job I lost over 25+ LBS by improving my diet and exercising more regularly. I have gotten a lot of requests around my workout regime. I have posted a few fitness routines but I will be share more about my weight loss soon!

11. I love to dye my hair PINK

I like to play with my hair color and have dyed my hair pink a few different times. I initially just went for streaks and loved it so much I decided to take the plunge and do my whole head: here and here.

12. I am blogging solo for the first time in 7 years!

I first launched Britt+Whit in 2011 and after blogging for 7 years I am excited to be going solo! There will be big changes like an updated name and new design coming soon!
