I am currently snowed in, in Seattle and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share my favorite Winter Coats I have in my closet, as well as a few style tips when picking coat styles!
When I first moved back to Seattle from San Francisco, I had to do a rather large overhaul on my wardrobe.
I have really invested in coats and jackets for the type of weather in Seattle, which is a lot of rain and a bit of snow during the winter months.
A few tips I learned when picking out a winter coat that will stay with you over multiple season breakdown like this:
- Size and Fit matters – make sure you are factoring in layers when you are establishing fit. Are you wearing this with sweaters and multiple layers? Make sure to go a size up so it’s a comfortable fit.
- Quality over Quality – many coat styles can last in your closet for years if you invest in classic styles that stand the test of time. Don’t go for pieces that won’t be in style next season.
- Play Up Colors or Prints – If you dress in more neutrals, play up your top layer with a pop of color or a fun print!
- Diversify Style Options – Pick styles that you can wear across all the different facest of your life. For example, for work go for a more structured silhouette vs a moto jacket for a more casual look with friends.
